ZEPPO at The Hook! @ The Hook and Ladder Theater & Lounge • 3010 Minnehaha Ave • 8pm Doors • 9pm Music • 21+ • $10 Advance • $13 Day of Show
ZeppoJohn Eller (Shiny Lights), Terry Fisher (Run Westy Run), Noah Levy (Brian Setzer, Honeydogs) and Paul Boblett (Fathom Lane) are four men paying homage to a bundle of sticks by spraying physical graffiti on the houses of the holy.
Faith Boblett: Faith pulls inspiration from singer-songwriters like Brandi Carlile, Stevie Wonder, Lissie, and Ryan Adams. She plays with her band, as well as solo acoustic sets. Faith bends boundaries and doesn’t exactly fit into one box. If she gets asked what kind of music she plays, she usually says, “Ummm, singer-songwriter songs that get worked on by the full band, that turn into whatever they’re supposed to be? I guess, pop in the classical sense, not bubble gum, with rock and alternative sensibility, sometimes a little rootsy, too? I suck at answering this question…”

Madeline & Sam’s Magical Storytime @ Boneshaker Books • 2002 23rd Ave S • 11am
It is our mission with this story time to promote children’s books that shine a spotlight on a wide array of racial and cultural identities, genders, orientations, experiences and abilities. We want to create a space that places a special emphasis on promoting self love, empathy and a greater understanding of the strange, magical world we inhabit. There is serious deficit in children’s books that depict protagonists who are a people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ or any combination of the above. That is why Madeline and Sam’s Magical Story Time seeks out books that do just that. Positive representation in books is crucial to a child’s development of a positive self image. It can be absolutely life affirming for a child to see a protagonist who reflects them accomplishing anything they set their mind to. It is also crucial in developing empathy for a child to experience diversity at a young age. This story time will not only be educational, but spectacularly fun! Before each reading we will have one minute wiggle parties and coloring pages that correlate with that weeks books. Come out to Boneshaker Books every Saturday between 11 AM and Noon starting June 9th to experience a story time that celebrates every child for the magical person that they are! Let’s have some fun!!

Y la Bamba / Fiamma/ DJ Christopher St. Christopher @ Moon Palace Books • 3032 Minnehaha Ave • 7pm • $10 • 21+
Luz Elena Mendoza’s story is one sung to her ancestors and humanity, exploring a faith that is greater than just religion, and a life of metamorphosis and awakening. Born in San Francisco as a first generation daughter of immigrant parents from Michoacan Mexico, she spent her childhood raised by the melodies and stories that were being told through traditional Mexican folk songs. From the intimate, contemplative verses in her native-language, to the revelations of the history in her roots, her story is delivered with poise. Mendozas poetic expression is raw, and ever evolving. These songs are a soundtrack built for coming to grips with, not just one’s own mortality, but the fragility of the world, presenting sounds that carry the realness of ancestral trauma and the search of identity.
