Koch-Marshall Trio at The Hook & Ladder Theater, 3010 Minnehaha Ave. • Doors 7:30pm / Music 8:00pm / 21+
The Tommy Bentz Band from Wisconsin will open.
Koch-Marshall Trio:
Greg Koch and the Koch-Marshall trio consists of guitarist Greg Koch, his son Dylan Koch, and Hammond B3 specialist Toby Lee Marshall. At the heart of this organ trio is a blues sensibility – but Koch’s compositions are an amalgam of rock, funk, jazz and country served up with heavy grooves and dynamic improvisations delivered with no small does of humor and occasional wild abandon. Milwaukee native Greg Koch has forged a successful career as a guitar player’s guitarist. He has been called “fiendishly talented” by Guitar Player Magazine and “scary good” by guitar phenom Joe Bonamassa. Koch is widely known for his lengthy tenure as an international ambassador for Fender Guitars, which listed him in the “Top Ten Unsung Guitarists.” Greg is a contributing columnist for a variety of guitar magazines, including Guitar Player Magazine which listed Greg’s “Chief’s Blues” in the “40 Badass Blues Solos You Must Hear.”
Tommy Bentz Band:
The Tommy Bentz Band extensively tours regionally in the US and bi-annually to the UK. They’re a fantastic power trio that has been in existence for over 15 years, jamming in the style of “The Allman Brothers meet Van Morrison.” Standout slide player Tommy Bentz leads the band and has often been touted as one of the best in the Midwest.
