Native Boulevards

Work together with Longfellow neighbors to replace your boulevard turf with beautiful, pollinator-supporting, stormwater-capturing native plants!
Neighbors on a block will pool their resources to order flats of native plants at wholesale prices, then hold a work day to remove sod, mulch and plant. Training will be provided, no experience required!
Why plant native plants?
  • No watering needed after the first year
  • Minimal weeding needed after the first two years
  • They provide excellent food and shelter for bees, butterflies, and other insects
  • They capture and filter stormwater runoff, keeping our waterways clean
  • They’re pretty!

Are you interested in working with your neighbors to replace your boulevard grass with native plants? Let us know you’re interested by signing up below. Block captains will be meeting in March 2026 to conduct a training.
