DESCRIPTION:Augsburg University recently announced an agreement to sell the property to the Somali Museum of Minnesota to develop a permanent museum facility and cultural center on the former Bethany Lutheran Church site at 2511 E. Franklin Ave. \nA link to the press release on Augsburg’s website is here. \nAugsburg has worked with Redesign to identify a financially sustainable\, community-serving use for the property that contributes to the vitality of the East Franklin corridor. During the 2023 legislative session\, the Somali Museum was approved for state funding to advance the project\, with Noor Companies as developer. \nNeighbors and community members are invited to attend a community gathering about the past\, present\, and future of 2511 East Franklin Avenue on Saturday\, April 27\, from 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM at Matthews Recreation Center (2318 29th Ave. S). Please join us to learn about the Somali Museum and their vision for the site. All are welcome. DESCRIPTION:Shop local via bicycle! Ride with us to visit businesses who are participating in the Summer Savings Program in the Longfellow and Seward neighborhoods. This will be a fun\, slow-paced ride to get to know your neighbors and local businesses. \n\n\n\n\n\nBike Commute Coach Mary will share tips for safe riding in the city and staying cool in the heat. This is a great ride to join for folks interested in getting more confident and comfortable riding to destinations in the neighborhood. New\, infrequent and e-bike riders welcome. \nRoute will be 3 – 5 miles in length and travel along bicycle friendly streets. We will visit murals and neighborhood attractions. Come early to grab coffee or another great iced drink from Milkweed Coffee. \nThis ride is a partnership between Bike Anywhere\, Longfellow Community Council\, Longfellow Business Association\, and the Seward Civic & Commerce Association.
