Longfellow is a community full of diverse, creative individuals with stories to tell. And our collective experiences and histories can be seen in the art throughout our community.
Art is just one of things that makes our community feel vibrant and special, so we wanted to highlight one of the most visual elements of our neighborhood creativity – murals! Longfellow has so many beautiful murals! Mural at LCC office by Pablo Kalaka

Artist: Pablo Kalaka
Pablo Kalaka is a painter, muralist and illustrator. Chilean by birth (1975) and Venezuelan by upbringing. He has a degree in Literature from the Central University of Venezuela (1998) and studied illustration and graphic art at the Escola de Comics Joso, in Barcelona, Spain (2002-2004).
About the Mural: This beautiful mural portrays the beautiful animals, plants, and vibrant energy of our city. This mural was funded by LCC.
Mural at Arbeiter Brewing
Address: 3038 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55406
On the side of Arbeiter Brewing, a local craft brewery and tap room.
Artist: Philipo Dyauli
Philipo Dyauli is a self-taught painter, muralist and illustrator from Tanzania and currently based in Minneapolis, MN. As a self-taught painter and muralist, he uses color and scale to illustrate the importance of people over material objects. Dyauli explores and transforms personal experiences into life-size paintings to create a unique form of visual storytelling. His practice allows him to explore issues of identity and multiculturalism.
About this Mural: It is meant to portray the lively social and interactive atmosphere of the community.
Bungalow Club Mural

Artist: Megan Moore
Megan is a Longfellow neighborhood artist working with LoLa (the League of Longfellow Artists). Megan Moore grew up in Huntsville, AL, studied illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and has been working in Minneapolis as a professional artist for 20 years.
About this Mural: This mural was funded by the LCC, and is meant to honor the natural vegetation and the animals that reside in it in the Longfellow community.
Lake Street Midtown Station Mural
Address: Intersection of Hiawatha Avenue and Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407 at the Lake Stree Midtown Station
Artist: Hibaaq Ibrahim (AKA “Moon Juice”)
Hi I’m Hibaaq Ibrahim, a.k.a Moon Juice! I’m a lifelong artist turned muralist, based in Minneapolis, MN. Flowers, plants, and patterns are my passions. I’m incredibly inspired by the vivid colors and beautiful shapes found in local flora and fauna.
About this Mural: This mural was meant to portray colorful fauna as a vibrant piece for the community to enjoy.
The “Welcome to Longfellow” mural at Visual Expressions
Address: 4009 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55406
Artist: It was painted by a mural artist working with a group of Sanford Middle School students. If you know the name of the artist, let us kno!
About this Mural: This mural was commissioned with the Longfellow Community Council, and is meant to welcome visitors to the community with an uplifting visual piece.
36th Ave Bridge Mural
Address: 36th Ave, Concrete Bridge – The Gateway to Longfellow
Artist: Hiawatha Collegiate Students and Sprayfinger
About this Mural: This mural was meant to be a beautiful gateway between the Seward and Longfellow neighborhoods, and is also known as the “River Memory” mural. It is meant to reflect the values of the community, and serves as a public, people-centered figment. It was in part funded by LCC and SNG.
Target (Lake Street) Mural
Address: 2500 E Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55406
Artists: Marlena Myles, Leslie Barlow, Hend Al-Mansour, Philipo Dyauli, Jose Dominguez, and Raul Villanueva
About this Mural: In the wake of the George Floyd murder, this target was damaged and then rebuilt with more of the community’s needs/values in mind. The community was vocal about wanting local art displayed, and thus Target commissioned seven local artists to craft a mural on the side of the building that reflect the community’s diversity and values.
Soderbergs Mural
Address: 3305 E Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55406 on the side of Soderbergs Floral Shop.
Artist: Martha Floerchinge
About this Mural: This mural was made to say thank you to the community for welcoming the historical flower shop for around a century. It serves as a beautiful display of gratitude to the community members who keep the local store running.
Ricardo Levins Art Studio Mural

Artist: Olivia Levins Holden
Olivia Levins Holden is a queer, mixed Boricua muralist, organizer, artist, and educator living on Dakota homeland, Mni Sota Makoce, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Olivia’s work explores many ways that the arts can transform and support movements, tell stories, plant seeds, and combat toxic narratives. They center processes of community involvement and collective design, drawing from conversations and people’s history to create collaborative murals and public art, believing that the process is as essential as the final artwork.
