Wondering what the latest updates are with properties surrounding the Lake and Minnehaha intersection? Our friends at the Longfellow Nokomis Messenger have pulled all the information together for us.
While certain businesses like Midori’s Floating World Cafe, have reopened in a new location, others, like Pangea World Theater, are relocating to the now mostly vacant site at 27th Avenue block, and some are changing shape like Gandhi Mahal, or not returning at all – Migizi relocated several blocks west and plans to stay there.
We’re all anxious to see our neighborhood rebuilding, but many of these projects, including Gandhi Mahal and Pangea World Theater are approaching their rebuilding with intention, creativity and social justice at heart, that and the rising cost of building materials means that we’re probably several years away from being a totally rebuilt community. Although there has been some progress – the Post Office on Minnehaha has started construction, but there is no official timeline to when that project will be completed, and the Coliseum building is being renovated by Redesign, which will be getting underway soon.
